Novita is one of South Australia’s premier children’s charities, and a recognised world leader in the provision of therapy, equipment and family support to more than 1000 local children and their families living with physical disabilities or acquired brain injuries. The organisation is made up of almost 300 professional staff and countless volunteers who are passionate about achieving Novita’s purpose of ‘connecting kids with their worlds’. Novita is governed by a Board of Directors and an Executive Team, who work together to ensure each Novita child has every opportunity to reach their full potential. Novita was first established in 1939 as the Crippled Children’s Association of SA, to care for children diagnosed with polio . When cases of polio in Australia declined, Novita’s services were widened to include children with a range of physical disabilities.
